longform-media-summary

Summarize long-form media into structured notes, extracted viewpoints, thesis briefs, or audience-specific translations. TRIGGER when: user shares a YouTube video, podcast, interview, speech, or article and wants the content distilled. DO NOT USE when: user only wants raw transcription, verbatim translation, or pure single-stock financial analysis.

Longform Media Summary

Turn long-form content into the right kind of summary for the user's goal.

Use this skill for YouTube videos, podcasts, interviews, speeches, and long articles. Keep the main flow lightweight. Route by source complexity first, then refine by user goal.

Step 1 — Assess source complexity and user goal

What to do:

  • First read SKILL_DIR/references/complexity-routing.md before choosing any mode.
  • Classify the source by:
    • length / duration
    • source type (monologue / interview / panel / tutorial / article)
    • information density
    • argument depth
    • speaker count
  • Then factor in the user goal.
  • Choose:
    • one primary mode
    • optional one secondary mode if the content is layered
  • Long, thesis-heavy, or multi-speaker content must not default to quick-summary alone.
  • If the user simply says “summarize”, do not route by wording alone; use the lightest mode mix that still fits the source complexity.

Tools / data sources:

  • User prompt
  • Media URL or source text
  • read on SKILL_DIR/references/complexity-routing.md

Success criteria:

  • The routing fits both the source complexity and the user’s goal.
  • The chosen mode set is explicit be
